Islam Kindsvater
Headmaster
About...
Mr. Islam Kindsvater joined the German Hotel School in 2012, after he had finished his education as a hotel industry expert with IHK Leipzig and a management training with world-renowned German hotel chain Kempinski.
He started out as a Service teacher, but quickly climbed up the ranks, becoming Head of Education only two years later in 2014. After another two years he took over as Headmaster, initially on an interim basis. Since 2017 he is permanent Headmaster of the German Hotel School El Gouna. During his time at the GHS he continuously worked on expanding his knowledge, by completing a culinary degree and an education as an instructor with the IHK Leipzig and receiving a management diploma by the management institute Dr. A. Kietzmann.
With his half German, half Egyptian heritage, long history within in the school and deep knowledge of the hotel industry, he is the perfect link between students, staff and our partners.
Linda Osman

About...
Mrs. Linda Osman came to El Gouna in 2004, after she had finished her schooling as a hotel management assistant with Rahn Education in Germany. Over the next 15 years she worked in public relations and guest service management for different El Gouna Hotels. After her following stint at Orascom Hotel Management she decided to turn her career towards teaching, to pass on her knowledge of the hotel industry to a younger generation.
She joined the German Hotel School in 2020 as a Service Teacher. 2 years later she got promoted to Head of Education, taking on further responsibilities besides teaching using her management experience and connections inside the El Gouna hotel industry to guarantee a smooth and highly qualified education for our students.
Carolin Ummenhofer

About...
Ms. Carolin Ummenhofer is an educated Office Manager. She joined the German Hotel School in 2010 and since then manages the school´s secretariat and the student administration. Over time she took on even more responsibility, becoming education manager. Her tasks include the Quality Management of the School and the organisation of the IHK-Exams.
She speaks fluent German, Arabic and English, which is very conducive for a good communication. With her extensive experience within the school, her excellent language skills and her social qualities she forms a link between the different school departments and our headmaster.
Hany Saad

About...
Mr. Hany Saad studied German at the Faculty of Language and Translation of the Al-Azhar University in Cairo. From 2001 till 2014 he worked as a tour guide, planning and executing day trips for tourists in Egypt. During these years he gained a lot of experience in working with hotels and dealing with the customs of German tourists, while also improving his language skills.
In 2014 he joined the German Hotel School as a German Teacher. In the following years he did further training in pedagogy and German. In 2018 he took over the position of Training Coordinator, using his experience to establish good communication between the school and the cooperating hotels. Depending on requirements, he still takes on some German lessons and completed relevant training in 2021, so he can also teach hospitality subjects.

Mr. Mohamed Ibrahim concluded his studies in Nutritional Science at Helwan University Cairo in 1996. He gained first work experience in Egypt and then moved to Germany and began his two-year training as a chef there in 2003. After completing it he gained 13 years of experience as a chef for communal catering. In those years he was also responsible for the quality management of the kitchen and specialized on the “cook and chill” technique. He also did further training to become a catering manager.
After a one-year stint doing a cooking workshop for people with disabilities, he moved back to his home country and joined the GHS as a Kitchen Teacher in August 2019.
Thomas Lerch

Mr. Thomas Lerch has more than thirty years of international experience in luxury hospitality. His career with renowned hotel groups such as Four Seasons, Mandarin Oriental, Raffles, Jumeirah, and Rosewood has taken him to London, Berlin, Boston, Dublin, Dubai, the Maldives, Hong Kong, and Munich. In senior leadership roles, he managed large teams and developed innovative service concepts that met the highest international standards.
He has also contributed to NGO hotel schools in Cambodia, Indonesia, and Madagascar, where he designed curricula, taught, and supported disadvantaged young people on their path into the hospitality industry. In his free time, he enjoys exploring food and wine, a passion underscored by his WSET Level 3 Certificate. Since 2025, he works as an Instructor in Service and Hotel Management at the German Hotel School El Gouna, driven by the motivation to share knowledge and to foster students in both their personal and professional development.
Hana Azzam

Since January 2025, Ms. Hana Azzam has been working as a trainer for vocational theory and service at the German Hotel School in El Gouna. Born and raised in Germany to a family with Arabic roots, she feels a strong connection to both cultures. Her role in Egypt allows her to bring these two worlds together—professionally and personally—while supporting her students with a bicultural perspective and real-world experience.
Her passion for hospitality began in 2000 in her family’s restaurant, where she discovered her love for service. She finished her education as a qualified hotel specialist at the Courtyard by Marriott in Regensburg, Germany and gained experience within the Marriott Hotelgroup, Afterwards, she worked on a cruise ship reception and spent several years as a flight attendant with a German airline, expanding her customer service expertise and global perspective on hospitality.
With over two decades of hands-on experience, Ms. Azzam brings passion, professionalism, and cultural understanding to everything she does—both in the classroom and beyond.

Mr. Mohamed Embarak graduated from the German Hotel School El Gouna in 2006. He initially gained three years of professional experience at the five-star Hotel Sheraton in El Gouna. From 2008 to 2021, he worked as a chef in the school’s dorm, playing a key role in the daily catering operations. In 2021, he was offered a position by Rahn Education to work as a chef in Germany. During his three-year stay, he successfully completed the external chef examination and continuously improved his German language skills. Since February 2025, Mr. Embark has returned to the German Hotel School El Gouna, where he now works as a dedicated teacher of Kitchen Theory.

Ms. Sekina Mekky has been serving as Head of the German Department at GHS since joining the school in the summer of 2019. With her German-Egyptian background, she brings a unique intercultural perspective that greatly enriches her work in the field of teaching German as a foreign language.
She studied languages at Heinrich Heine University in Düsseldorf, graduating with honors in 2006 with a Magistra Artium degree. During her university studies in Düsseldorf, she already gained valuable teaching experience by instructing heterogeneous groups in German as a foreign language.
Following her graduation, she worked as a German language instructor and led the testing team at the German University in Cairo until 2019. During this time, she also earned the “Grünes Diplom” from the Goethe-Institut Cairo, a prestigious qualification for teaching German as a foreign language. She further deepened her professional expertise by obtaining the advanced “DSD-Gold” qualification offered by the Central Agency for German Schools Abroad (ZfA).
Ms. Sekina Mekky has significantly contributed to the continuous improvement of teaching quality within her department. She is responsible for the school’s cooperation with the Kulturweit volunteer service and oversees the implementation and coordination of the Deutsches Sprachdiplom (DSD I) program, including the administration of DSD I exams.

After Mrs. Anzhela Pauliuc finished her education in German and English Studies, and further the German Literature at Vitebsk State University in Belarus in 2001, she has gained more than 11 years of experience as a German Teacher in public, international, and disability-accessible schools.
Over a few years she also worked in the hospitality industry there she gained valuable practical experience in the areas of guest services, spa reception and Food and Beverage.
With her work experience of the Hospitality, and broad knowledge of the German language, her cultural experience and her dedication to teaching she has been a vital part of the German department at the GHS since she joined the school in 2018.
Yusra Anabtawi

Ms. Yusra Anabtawi has been working as a teacher of German as a foreign language at the German Hotel School El Gouna since August 2023. With her extensive teaching experience in Germany and her strong intercultural competence, she is a valuable asset to the school’s German department.
Before joining the team in El Gouna, Ms. Anabtawi worked as a German language instructor in Bremen and was also employed as an educational specialist in socio-pedagogical and vocational training contexts. Her focus has consistently been on language development, the individual support of disadvantaged learners, and interdisciplinary educational work.
She further enhanced her professional qualifications through the DaF/DaZ certification from the Goethe-Institut Mannheim and the “DSD-Gold” advanced training program offered by the Central Agency for German Schools Abroad (ZfA).
Kulturweit
Volunteer
The German Hotel School is cooperating with the “Kulturweit” voluntary service by the German UNESCO-Commission. Every year or half year a new volunteer from Germany is sent to support the school’s German department. The “Kulturweit” volunteer offers additional support in the classroom and provides an opportunity for the students to interact with a native speaker.

Mrs. Thereze Waffy studied History and Geography at the Faculty of Arts of Assiut University. In 2007 she joined the German Hotel School as teacher for Geography and History. Over time she climbed up the ranks, first becoming a Senior Teacher in 2012 and later getting promoted to Head of the Department of National Subjects in 2018. In this role she is responsible for the communication with the School Administration Zone of the Red Sea Governate, the management of the curriculum and the teachers of the national subjects, as well as directing the execution of the midterm and end of the year exams.
During her long time at the GHS she also laid focus on her professional development, receiving courses in learning and teaching methods, a diploma for leadership and a Professional Master in School Management, as well as getting awarded for good teaching and treatment of students by the School Administration Zone.
Haitham Ibrahim

Mr. Haitham Ibrahim was granted a B.A. Degree in English Language from the renowned Al-Alsun Faculty of the Ain Shams University in Cairo in 2002. After first work experience as a Teacher of English at a private school, he started his work as a tour Guide in 2004, which he has been doing ever since. In this work environment he interacts a lot with native speakers and has therefore steadily improved his language skills and accent over the years and continues to do so, to this day.
In 2015 he joined the German Hotel School as a Teacher of English, to pass on his knowledge to our students, who need the English language for their work in an internationalised tourism branch.
Nermin Samir

Mrs. Nermin Samir graduated from the Faculty of Commerce of the Beni Suef University with a specialization on accounting and computer operation in 2011.
During her studies she got first work experience at the Healing Grace Foundation as an accountant and supervisor for children. In 2015 she joined the German Hotel School as a PC Teacher. In her first year she got an educational diploma in mathematics, which is why she was able to take over both the PC and the mathematics classes from 2016. In 2021 she started to pursue a Master of Education Management and Teaching Methods at the Beni Suef University in addition to her work at GHS.
With her growing knowledge on education and her expertise on mathematics and computer operation she can prepare our students well for the tasks they will face in the hotels.
Mahrous Ibrahim

Mr. Mahrous Ibrahim concluded his studies of Arabic and Islamic Religion at Al-Azhar University Qena in 2002. In the following 18 years he served as a teacher for Arabic and Islamic Religion and as the Head of the Arabic department at several schools around Hurghada and El Gouna.
He is also qualified to teach the Edexcel GCSE in Arabic. In 2020 he joined the German Hotel School as a teacher for Arabic and Islamic Religion and has been passing on his enthusiasm and his knowledge of the Arabic language to our students ever since.

After his national career as a Kung-Fu fighter Mr. Mohamed H. Mobasher studied at the Faculty of Physical Education of the Helwan University Cairo, which he graduated from in 2003. Since he has worked as a physical education teacher for several schools around Hurghada and Cairo.
He is also an experienced Kung-Fu and fitness trainer, as well as providing knowledge of most other popular sports.
In 2017 he joined the German Hotel School as a Sports Teacher.

After the education as a housekeeping assistant at the Lette Verein Berlin, Michelle Kundis gained over 10 years extensive experience in housekeeping, reception/reservations, and meetings and events on a German cruise ship and in Swiss 4- and 5-star hotels.
She then focused more on administrative work and spent the last six years working as an executive assistant in various industries. Among other things, she was also responsible for 50 employees as head of the department for maintenance cleaning in offices and private households.
Her many years of experience in these two areas motivated her to combine them in 2025 at the German Hotel School El Gouna as a project coordinator and instructor in the field of housekeeping, providing valuable support to the school management, the administration team and the technical teachers.

Mr. Abdelghany Mortada studied social pedagogy at Assuan University. He also received training in international protection of minors, first aid and fire protection.
He joined the German Hotel School as Dorm Manager in 2013. A year later he changed to the role of Social Worker. He was promoted to Senior Social Worker in 2016. In this role he is responsible to draw up and execute the annual plan of activities, for the relations with parents, ministries and partners, as well as for the daily dealings with our students, in which he solves conflicts and problems, ensures discipline and helps to create a good group dynamic and learning atmosphere.

Mrs. Christina Emad studied social pedagogy at Fayoum University. After that, she gained several years of experience as a social worker, especially working with children and young people. She is also trained in international protection of minors, first aid, self-defence, fire protection and completed an IT-course.

Mr. Mohamed Abdel Hafiz Ali
Dorm Kitchen Chef
Mr. Mohamed Abdel Hafiz Ali completed his studies at the British Institute for Tourism and Hotels and holds an advanced HACCP certificate, as well as several other certifications in the field of hospitality. With over 10 years of professional experience, he has worked in numerous renowned hotels and restaurants in Hurghada and El Gouna. In 2014, he joined the German Hotel School as a First Comme. Thanks to his dedication, skills, and extensive experience, he was soon promoted and now leads the kitchen as Executive Chef. In his current role, Mr. Abdel Hafiz is responsible for planning and overseeing the preparation and serving of three healthy and age-appropriate meals per day. He ensures high standards of hygiene and food safety, contributes to a positive team environment, and continuously seeks to expand his knowledge in the culinary field.
